BARCLAYS WORK-CAFÉS

TYPE OFFICES
AREA 11,000 SF
COMPLETED 2011

The brief was to develop a ‘café’ concept for the 11 floors of a bank’s regional Asia office in Singapore.

CIRCA developed a design to act as a ‘work-café’ space, which staff could use as an alternative to the more formal workstation areas & meeting rooms on each floor. The cafes offer a variety of seating types, & flexibility in connecting the different seating zones. Wireless was discussed, but as for all banks; remains a challenge to implement under the supervision regulations. As an alternative, LAN points were installed; & projection / writing walls integrated into the zones. The cafes were all located against the window line, to maximise the appeal for use. Floor areas were raised to add variety to the space, & add impact to the window view.
